ISAIAH 49:5-6<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I believe the Lord has a word for us in Isaiah 49:5-6:<\/span><\/p>\n

5<\/sup>\u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0now\u00a0the\u00a0LORD\u00a0says,
\n<\/span><\/i>he who formed me from the womb to be his servant,
\n<\/span><\/i>to bring Jacob back to him;
\n<\/span><\/i>and that Israel might be gathered to him \u2013
\n<\/span><\/i>for I am honoured in the eyes of the LORD,
\n<\/span><\/i>and my God has become my strength \u2013<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

6<\/sup>\u00a0 he says:
\n<\/span><\/i>\u201cIt is too light a thing that you should be my servant
\n<\/span><\/i>to raise up the tribes of Jacob
\n<\/span><\/i>and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
\n<\/span><\/i>I will make you as a light for the nations,
\n<\/span><\/i>that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The verses are from the 2nd Servant Song in Isaiah. The emphasis is on how \u201cthe servant of the Lord\u201d proclaims the Word of God not only to the people of God but to the far off nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is this \u201cservant of the Lord\u201d? In context, it refers to God\u2019s faithful remnant \u2013 those who are fully loyal to Him and committed to do His will.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is embodied by the prophet Isaiah in his day; it is perfectly fulfilled in our Lord Jesus Christ and then the role is handed on to the Church, to you and me.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, God is speaking to the faithful part of His Church in Singapore through this passage.<\/span><\/p>\n

He wants us to be:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. A light that calls our nation to the Living God<\/span> <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The passage says that the faithful remnant is to \u201cbring Jacob (that is, the nation) back to God\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

For that to happen in Singapore, our churches themselves will need to be authentically living under the rule of God. That means that:<\/span><\/p>\n
