Psalm 127:3-4 NKJV<\/cite> \u201cBehold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

One thing that breaks my heart most is when I hear stories of parents and grandparents who have loved and served God faithfully and sacrificially their whole lives, but their own children or grandchildren are not living for Jesus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is always sadness and a longing for the children to be on fire for Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n

So I feel led to dedicate one of the 40 days of prayer to parents.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are familiar with the parable of the Prodigal Son. But actually, it is also the Prodigal Sons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two sons \u2013 one strayed, one stayed. But both are just as lost; one lost in the world,<\/span> one lost in the house \u2013 the house of God.<\/span><\/p>\n

The son who remained at home was equally lost. He had no relationship with the Father. The prodigal son was far from home, while the other son was \u201cnear\u201d home. But \u201cnear\u201d does not mean \u201cclose\u201d to the Father. Proximity does not mean intimacy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of our sons and daughters are lost in the world. Meanwhile, some of our sons and daughters are still in the house. They are still in church, but they may still be lost, because they don\u2019t have a strong personal relationship with the Father.<\/span><\/p>\n

Proximity does not mean intimacy.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God has no grandchildren. We pray, \u201cOur Father in Heaven.\u201d We never pray, \u201cOur Grandfather in heaven\u201d. In other words, it cannot be \u201cMy dad\u2019s God\u201d or \u201cMy mum\u2019s church\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s pray that our children will have a personal encounter with Jesus. Let\u2019s pray they have a revelation from Heaven, so that it goes from \u201cMy dad\u2019s God\u201d to \u201cMy God, my Lord, my Saviour\u201d. It goes from \u201cMy mum\u2019s church\u201d to \u201cMy church, my calling, my vision.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s also pray for ourselves, the Christian parents.<\/span> We need wisdom, grace and patience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Singapore is a place where we know the price of everything, but the value of nothing. We know the price of a house, but we do not know the value of a home.<\/span> Our children know the price of an iPhone, but they do not know the value of communication and fellowship.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Christian parents, let\u2019s focus more on building Godly character and biblical values.<\/span><\/p>\n

I always tell the parents in our church \u2013 don\u2019t just pass down the money, pass down the mission. Don’t just pass down valuables, pass down the values.<\/span><\/p>\n

We pray for all the children who are lost in the world.
\n<\/i><\/b><\/span>We pray they will come home to You, they will have a relationship with You.
\n<\/span><\/i>We declare \u2013 none shall be lost!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We pray for all the children who are lost in the house.
\n<\/i><\/b><\/span>We pray for the children in church, school and youth fellowship. We pray that they will have a personal relationship with You. We pray that they will encounter You and have a revelation of You. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We pray for ourselves as parents.<\/i><\/b>
\n<\/span><\/i><\/span>We repent if we have put academics, success and career above You. Help us to re-prioritise, to put You first in our lives. Give us more wisdom, patience and faith.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Thank you, Jesus. We pray all this in Jesus\u2019 name, Amen.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
