Genesis 3:1-7<\/cite> \u201c1 <\/i><\/b>Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the <\/i>Lord<\/i> God had made. He said to the woman, \u201cDid God really say, \u2018You must not eat from any tree in the garden\u2019?\u201d <\/i>2 <\/i><\/b>The woman said to the serpent, \u201cWe may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, <\/span><\/i>3 <\/i><\/b>but God did say, \u2018You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.\u2019\u201d <\/span><\/i>4 <\/i><\/b>\u201cYou will not certainly die,\u201d the serpent said to the woman. <\/span><\/i>5 <\/i><\/b>\u201cFor God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.\u201d <\/span><\/i>6 <\/i><\/b>When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. <\/span><\/i>7 <\/i><\/b>Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.<\/span><\/i>“<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Learn<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

In Genesis, we see that God is not only a God who creates, but also a God who speaks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God speaks specific words of instruction to Adam and Eve, telling them that they may eat of every tree in the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil.<\/span><\/p>\n

But we see there is also a speaking serpent that challenged the words spoken by God. So what happened next?<\/span><\/p>\n

How well do we remember God\u2019s Word?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Not only did Eve forget God\u2019s exact words, she also added her own words to them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eve said that God\u2019s instruction was not to touch the tree of knowledge \u2013\u00a0something that God did not say.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since Eve could not remember what God had said, this gave the serpent a chance to tempt and trick her.<\/span><\/p>\n

We need to know God\u2019s Word well<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

What did Adam and Eve\u2019s sin show us? Sin can happen when we do not fully remember and obey God\u2019s words.<\/span><\/p>\n

In our lives, we will encounter many people telling us different things. But we can always run to God in all of life\u2019s situations and depend on His instructions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

May we come to know God deeply through His Word. May we not just hear his words, but also remember to do them.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
